This blog...

I have made this blog for the sole purpose of keeping track of the books I have read. Some day I will look back and say "WOW! I sure do read a lot!"
For those of you that come across this blog, I hope you find it useful. It may help you find your next book, get a new perspective on a book you've already read, or at the very least, provide a new way for you to waste a few minutes of your day.

Beautiful Redemption by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl

I read this way too fast!  I cannot believe the series is now over, I should have hidden this one so that I could still have something to read.  I was impressed by the ending, it is was not the perfect happily ever after that I always seem to want deep down.  Which worked out perfectly for this series, I really loved the ending!

I will say that my only complaint was that all of the bad guys seemed to die off way too easily.  I was expecting a bigger showdown of good versus evil, Light defeating Dark and all that.  This book was a lot shorter than the others too.  I can't decided whether or not it would have benefited from a bigger fight, but I cannot help comparing it to the taunting scene between Harry and Voldemort...I guess that is just one of my scenes of all time!!

Beautiful Chaos by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl

I am truly loving this series.  I have been laughing out loud, giggling and even crying thanks to this book!  I was wavering a little at the end of the last book and the beginning of this one.  It felt like it was dragging its' heels a little.  However, once it picked up it was too fast for me...I wanted it to last longer!  I guess that is how life goes.

I think my favorite relationship is Link and Ridley, they always make me laugh.  And then there is Amma and Uncle Macon, when the two of them are together it is so funny how they bicker!  I really enjoyed Link's mom and the rest of the town's reaction to the end of the world....and then ending, ooh the ending!  I am buying the next book right now!!

Lux Series by Jennifer L. Armentrout

While waiting for Beautiful Chaos to be ready at the library I needed something that would be quick and entertaining.  This series was just that...it was the perfect subway read!  I am obviously very drawn to supernatural books, especially YA supernatural romances...so I found the similarities between this series and others I have read to be more pronounced that usual.  Which is strange since this one does not have vampires or werewolves.  Weird, right?!

I will say that I found a the main character's hobby with blogging about her reading to be brilliant!  Of course, I am happy I am not that intense about it...but it was a cute commonality that I appreciated.

Beautiful Darkness by Kami Garcia & Margaret Stohl

I am really enjoying this series.  It has a lot of potential to become awesome.  I wonder how the author will continue to develop the characters.  I am particularly interested in Ridley's character, I think she is one of my favorites so far.  I will also say that I love Amma and The Sisters, they have such fun mannerism and ways of speaking.  I cannot help but laugh most of the time when they are in the scene.

Now I need to wait for the next book to come from the library....I guess I need some true crack candy reading in the meantime!!

Chosen at Nightfall by C.C. Hunter

While waiting for the next Beautiful Creatures book I picked up the next book from the Shadow Falls series.  I did enjoy it, like the other books.  They are a small step up from the pure crack candy books, which I thoroughly enjoyed.  I am not sure if this is the last book of the series, but it surely felt like it.  I do wish the ending had been longer.  We are built up to this major face off the entire book...and then it only last a chapter!

Beautiful Creatures by Kami Garcia & Margaret Stohl

This books was surprisingly good.  I am not really sure what I was expecting, but I was very happy to find that it was not a crack candy series.  The characters had depth and real flaws, and the plot was intriguing and captivating.  I am very much looking forward to the other books in this series.

I would definitely recommend this book to others that enjoyed the Harry Potter series.  Though not quite as good, it does have potential.  It is one of the better YA fictions I have come across.

The Witch's Daughter by Paula Brackston

This book kept coming up as a recommendation on all the sites I look at.  So when I came across a free copy I picked it up.  It was the perfect book to read on the subway.  The story line is a little on the slow side, but it is broken up in to various smaller stories which made it easy to pick up and put down during short intervals.

The story and characters were interesting, I was not pulled in until the very end though.  I found myself not fully engaged and some of the descriptions were a bit longer than necessary. However, it did help pass the time which was the purpose.

The Shadowy Horses by Susanna Kearsley

This was by far my least favorite of her books.  I wish I had not read this one last because now I am not as excited for the one that is coming out.  I think my love for horses expected this one to be the best, and therefore I unconsciously waited to read it.  My love for horses does not usually lead me this far astray!!

Usually her plots are more evenly divided between the past and the current times.  In this ones it was a lot more about the present time, which I think was the reason I was not as taken by it.  The past time she chose was extremely interesting, but it must have been too far in the past and therefore she did not have enough information for her usual narrative style.
