I am very happy I finally picked up this series. I truly enjoyed the movies, and as a rule of thumb books are always better...However, I never expected it to be this different. I cannot wait to read the other two books!! I mean the basic tale is the same, but they differ in the end by a lot. I think I am going to watch the movie now so that I can compare them more closely.
I must say that I really do enjoy the author's way of writing. I will also admit that there are times when a go faster than simple speed reading. In other words, I cut out some of the long winded sections. And all of the Elvish language and he songs, they are very entertaining and talented, but again a bit too long for my liking. Aside from that, I love the book. The characters are wonderful, the descriptions are fantastic, and the entire tale is work of genius!
